Pantuso to speak at Pitt-Bradford commencement

BRADFORD, Pa. — Peter J. Pantuso, the longtime president and chief executive officer of the American Bus Association and an international thought leader in transportation and tourism policy, has been selected as the 2026 Commencement speaker for the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. He will provide insights and experiences from his own professional and personal journey, while also offering advice to current graduates on how to make the most of their opportunities.

“Pitt-Bradford helped set me on the path to success and I am incredibly honored to be able to return to campus and celebrate the accomplishments of this class of incredibly talented graduates who will become our next generation of community and business leaders,” Pantuso said.

“Pete Pantuso is a perfect choice to deliver our commencement address,” added Pitt-Bradford President Richard Esch. “Not only has he been incredibly successful in his professional career, but he has also dedicated his life to giving back to his community in so many ways. He serves as a model for our graduates on what it really means to be a servant-leader.”

Pantuso served as the President and CEO of the American Bus Association from 1996 to 2024, directing strategic initiatives for the nation’s largest motorcoach, tour, and travel association, which represents more than 3,800 member organizations. He has also served in government advisory roles over his lengthy career, including being appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Travel and Tourism Infrastructure and the Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Council.

He has also worked tirelessly to support a wide range of community organizations, which include a decades-long association with Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts) and currently serves on its National Capital Area Council Executive Committee. He also often returns to campus to give back, including serving as a regular guest speaker in hospitality management courses taught by Lynette Campogiani, assistant professor of hospitality management.

A Bradford native, Pantuso attended Pitt-Bradford from 1973 to 1975 before four-year degrees were awarded at the university. He finished earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science at the University of Pittsburgh. He later earned a master’s in association management from George Washington University.

Pitt Bradford’s commencement exercises will take place at 2 p.m. on May 3rd in the KOA Arena located at the Dr. Richard and Ruth McDowell Sport and Fitness Center on campus.
